Our Story
I started repairing bikes in a small shop in Manhattan, Kansas…. and I just kept going.
What began as an interesting college job quickly became something more. By the time I graduated, I realized I didn’t just enjoy working on bikes — I loved it. I loved the machines, the problem-solving, and the joy people felt when their bike rode better than it had in years.
So I opened my first shop in 2009.
Over the years I’ve seen the bicycle industry change in a lot of ways. After running my own shop, my wife and I managed another store, spent time in the corporate side of the industry, and eventually found our way back to the work I enjoyed most: repairing bikes.
Because that’s what I missed.
I missed bringing old or worn-out bikes back to life.
I missed solving mechanical problems.
And most of all, I missed helping people rediscover the joy of riding.
What I realized along the way is that I’m not really interested in retail.
I’m not a salesman. I’m not interested in pushing the latest industry trend.
What I care about is helping people — cyclists and non-cyclists alike — enjoy their bikes. And for most of us, that starts with a bike that simply works the way it should.
Our Philosophy
Bicycle repair is both a craft and a science.
Our goal is simple:
help your bike perform the way it was meant to.
At Bells & Whistles, we’ve spent more than 20 years developing the knowledge and technical skill required to repair and maintain modern bicycles.
What sets us apart is the way we combine that experience with careful attention to detail and a commitment to doing things the right way.
Master Mechanic Standards
Your bike is serviced by a technician with decades of hands-on experience working with everything from family bikes to high-performance machines.
Precision and Accuracy
We use professional tools and manufacturer specifications to ensure every component is adjusted correctly and safely.
Transparency
Just as important as the repair itself is helping you understand it. We believe that when riders understand their bikes, they feel more confident about both the ride and the repairs.
